    Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet a number of our different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn about how to groom the horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition, students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15 minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. PARENT/GUARDIAN: This 2-hour camp is designed for parent/guardian participation. Parent/Guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp. WEATHER: Camps are held rain or shine, as we have an indoor barn and arena.     Learn to make Java mods for Minecraft Java Edition Minecraft using MCreator. Customize your gaming experience! MCreator is a great tool to learn Minecraft modding and to learn concepts of software programming. Students should be comfortable with keyboarding, and, of course, playing Minecraft! At the end of the class, take home your Mods to share with family and friends.   • 24-25 Middle School Non-School Day Field Trips

    Keep the boredom away and connect with friends on these non-school field trips. Register for one or all. There is not care before or after this field trip, students must be dropped off and picked up at the start and end time.
  • Intro to Video Game Design (Grades 4-8)

    Online Virtual Class: Don’t just play games, create them! Learn to modify and build our arcade-style games using Scratch. Scratch is a programming language developed by MIT. Basic computer skills are required. Home Technical Requirements: ● Computer: PC (Windows 10 or later) or Mac (OSX) with at least a 2GHz processor and 4GB of RAM ● Chromebooks, Tablets, and phones typically DO NOT Work. ● Internet: Broadband internet ● Webcam, Microphone and Speakers ● Zoom Installed on Computer, zoom link will be sent before class. ● Students should be comfortable using a PC, mouse, and keyboard.   • Handbuilding Pottery Workshop

    This two-session class is for those who love to create things with their hands. During the one-hour workshops, participants will use hand-building techniques to make a variety of decorative objects (vase, bowl, animal creatures, etc.). We will create and glaze during both sessions. Finished pieces will be dropped off at the elementary school.

    This is an opportunity for student-athletes entering grades K-8 to safely improve their basic fundamentals in the game of football, without pads. This camp will teach skills such as running routes, receiving, running the ball, passing, blocking and tackling. While learning the basics, participants will improve their strength, speed and agility. During this 2-hour event your ninja will get to practice on 40+ obstacles, compete in a warped wall challenge, and play exciting ninja games. We have all the action needed to keep your ninja engaged and active!

  • Driver's Education SUMMER 25-IN PERSON

    Community Education offers teen driver education in cooperation with Safeway Driving School. Safeway Driving School has been graduating teen drivers in the Twin Cities area for over 50 years. Safeway’s only focus is creating safe, responsible teen drivers. Classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons emphasize defensive driving techniques tailored to the inexperienced teen driver while targeting to influence the invincible teen attitude. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety. The cost of the teen package is $419 and includes the classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons, and all materials. Pay in full upon registration ($419) or choose the payment plan: $269 payable to Community Education upon registration and $150 (two payments of $75 each) payable to Safeway at the behind-the-wheel lessons. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and begin the responsibility of driving. The 30 hours of classroom time is structured into 10 independent lessons. Students must be on time for all classes. After class is completed, students that are 15 years old are eligible to take their permit test at any Minnesota exam center. The permit test is not provided during the class. Students can take the class at age 14½ but cannot take their permit test until age 15. Make-up lessons can be taken in the next session or at any of Safeway’s other virtual locations. Students must make up the exact lesson number that they missed. Students are welcome to make up in any location as long as the class is not marked “Class Full” on Safeway’s website. For make-up options, contact Safeway at 651-351-9150. Behind-the-wheel instruction includes six hours of driving in three, two-hour private lessons. All driving is done in a real car on actual city streets, highways and freeways with a responsible, licensed Safeway instructor. Safeway recommends students take their first lesson after at least 5 hours of practice driving. The lessons should be a minimum of 30 days apart to allow for practice. The lessons can be completed up to one year after completing classroom. Scheduling is offered online for 24/7 convenience. All of Safeway’s cars are white with identical graphics, so parents and students are confident that it is a Safeway car picking up the student for a lesson. Students can get picked up for their behind-the-wheel lesson from home, school or work. Parent involvement is required to produce safe, responsible teen drivers. It is critical that parents plan to practice regularly with their new student drivers. Safeway offers a free online parent class on their website. The state requires that students have a minimum of 50 hours of practice (15 hours at night). The practice time must be recorded on a state-approved Supervised Driving log and presented at the road test.     TIME: PARENT drop-off is at 9:00 a.m. and PARENT pickup is at 3:00 p.m. Sorry we do not allow parents to stay for the day. WHAT TO EXPECT: Experience a mini-week long camp! Campers will get to experience everyday life at a barn! Life in the barn will include activities such as; daily riding, learning how to braid manes and tails with ribbon, groom and care for the horses (including bathing) and feed them at the end of the day. This is a great time for campers to spend time outdoors and build lasting friendships with fellow horse lovers in a structured and positive environment. Campers are broken into smaller groups of similar riding experience, which is perfect for both the new and more experienced riders. Please note that riding takes about 1 hour per day in an arena, no trails and consist of learning to how to steer, stop, turn, and walk/trot on their own. Campers will spend time on the ground with horses throughout the rest of the day.     The Water Safety Instructor, also known as WSI™, course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the courses presented in the Swimming and Water Safety program to all age groups; all of the courses listed above, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors. During our swim instructor certification training courses you'll learn how to help individuals enjoy their time in the water safely – and in a wide range of ways. Throughout the courses we'll focus on a number of key areas that can help you succeed as aquatics instructor, such as: Water safety at public pools, homes, natural bodies of water and more, including the Circle of Drowning Prevention and Chain of Drowning Survival. Hydrodynamics, including why some things float, resistance to movement and creating movement in water, swimming efficiency and laws of levers. Basic safety, survival and swimming skills to help children gain water competency. Helping people with disabilities and other health conditions enjoy the water safely. Water Safety Instructors will also learn how to teach: Higher-level swim skills that help prepare people of all ages for any aquatic activity. Stroke mechanics for all competitive strokes as well as starts, turns and headfirst entries. Water safety certification courses, including Safety Training for Swim Coaches and Basic Water Rescue. Fundamentals of diving from a diving board. Aquatic fitness and training for people of any age. Note: In order to participate in Basic Swim Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certification classes, participants must be at least 15 years of age by the end of the course.

    The State of Minnesota requires that driver’s education distance learning be conducted in a face-to-face platform, which requires that students have a video camera and audio capabilities on their devices. Safeway has chosen a secure Zoom platform to conduct the class. Students will be required to be in front of the camera and interactive for the full three hour class. Safeway will be emailing the classroom handouts and 2024 MN Driver’s Manual in pdf format for printing. If you do not have the ability to print your course materials, please contact tkohner@isd622.org at least one week prior to the start of your class to pick up a printed packet.
