Day Trip: Wabasha Street Caves and Gangster Tour

Adult Enrichment / Special Events -
Winter/Spring 2026

During this adventure, you will experience two unique experiences, the Wabasha Cave History Tour and the original Saint Paul Gangster Tour! The Historic Tour begins in the 1800s when the location was a silica mine and travels in time to when it was a mushroom farm. Eventually it was developed into a gangsters’ hotspot during the 1920’s prohibition era! All caves are accessible, and heated to room temperature.

For the Saint Paul Gangster Tour we will board a motor coach and ride in comfort as a costumed gangster character guides you throughout the 5-mile area of St. Paul. You will learn why Saint Paul was a center for bootlegging operations and criminal activities during the prohibition era and beyond. You will see where these criminals " lived it up" as they planned and executed some of the most nefarious crimes ever perpetrated in the upper Midwest. You will learn about notorious hoodlums like John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, Fred Barker, Arthur "Doc" Barker, and Ma Barker. Join us for a journey through the days when Saint Paul streets were filled with corruption. In between tours, you will enjoy an Italian lunch of pasta (choice of spaghetti, fettuccine, and rotini), various sauces (alfredo, meat sauce, marinara), a meat (chicken, meatballs, Italian sausage), breadsticks, salad, dessert, and beverages.
