  • Lifeguard Certification Class

    Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years. This class is a blended learning format. Course reading will be done online prior to the beginning of the in-person class. A link to the course materials will be sent to the email address provided at the time of registration by no later than one week prior to the first date of the class.
  • *Water Safety Aid Training

    Are you interested in making money and having fun? Join our water safety aid class where you will learn to assist instructors to teach children how to swim. You will learn how to demonstrate and teach each stroke, and give feedback to swim students. Upon successful completion of this class, you may have the opportunity to join our aquatics instructor team and start earning right away. Aquatics staff will be on site to provide information on applying for a job, for those age 14 or older. Those under age 14 may sign up to be volunteers with the program and be hired upon turning 14. Prerequisite for class: Ability to swim 25 yards any stroke and tread water for 3-5 minutes in the deep end. Comfortable with swimming and assisting swimmers in the deep end. Must be able to demonstrate these skills at the first class.
