Epic Connection is a summer program for middle school students. It is a place for students to build a “life resume” by building friendships, building community connections, building knowledge, and building student leadership.

Give an old quilt new life! Whether you have a cherished quilt at home or choose to rescue one from a thrift store, you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to transform it into a beautiful jacket. Basic sewing skills are recommended. A $5 fee is paid to the instructor for the pattern—or bring your own.

Sandra Bengtson, owner of Avant Garb Fashions, was fortunate to learn how to sew by her mother at age eight. Decades later, Sandra’s passion for sewing has paved the way to fulfilling a lifelong dream; teaching others. As her mother did for her, Sandra is committed to spread her love of sewing. Sandra believes that providing a warm, inclusive classroom environment with fun and laughter, maximizes the learning experience and may even foster new friendships.
