  • LGBTQ+ Pool Meet Up - All Ages/Family Friendly

    Mark your calendar for our **FREE LGBTQ+ Pool meetup at John Glenn Middle School in Maplewood on Friday, April 12th and 26th, from 6 pm - 7:15 pm**. All are welcome (family-friendly, too). The building has a family locker room with individual stalls and gender-affirming bathrooms. This event is run by queer staff. I hope my family and I will see you there!   • Driver's Education Winter 24-VIRTUAL

    The State of Minnesota requires that driver’s education distance learning be conducted in a face-to-face platform, which requires that students have a video camera and audio capabilities on their devices. Safeway has chosen a secure Zoom platform to conduct the class. Students will be required to be in front of the camera and interactive for the full three hour class. Safeway will be emailing the classroom handouts and 2022 MN Driver’s Manual in pdf format for printing. If you do not have the ability to print your course materials, please contact tkohner@isd622.org at least one week prior to the start of your class to pick up a printed packet. Community Education offers teen driver education in cooperation with Safeway Driving School. Safeway Driving School has been graduating teen drivers in the Twin Cities area for over 50 years. Safeway’s only focus is creating safe, responsible teen drivers. Classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons emphasize defensive driving techniques tailored to the inexperienced teen driver while targeting to influence the invincible teen attitude. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety. The cost of the teen package is $419.00 and includes the classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons, and all materials. Pay in full upon registration or choose the payment plan: $249.00 payable to Community Education upon registration and $170 (two payments of $85 each) payable to Safeway at the behind-the-wheel lessons. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and begin the responsibility of driving. The 30 hours of classroom time is structured into 10 independent lessons. Students must be on time for all classes. After class is completed, students that are 15 years old are eligible to take their permit test at any Minnesota exam center. The permit test is not provided during the class. Students can take the class at age 14½ but cannot take their permit test until age 15.   • Henna Workshop

    Discover the rich culture of henna. Henna is a dye prepared from leaves of a henna tree also known as Egyptian privet. Henna is temporary body art resulting from the staining of the skin from the dyes. After stains reach their peak color, they hold for a few days, then gradually wear off, typically within two to three weeks. Learn the basics of henna tattoos and practice them. The instructor will fill in or finish your henna design and take home henna cone. All the materials will be provided.- Acrylic Studio Art

  • Spanish Summer Camp: ¡Vamos a Imaginar! "Let's imagine!" - LIVE Virtual

    In this thrilling LIVE virtual summer camp, students will use their imagination and learn Spanish vocabulary related to their favorite themes- superheroes, princesses, magic, dinosaurs, mermaids, unicorns, and more! Each class students will explore age-appropriate adventures- All in Spanish! Basic conversation and Spanish vocabulary such as colors and counting will be incorporated to build on their skills each week. Class will include interactive activities learning Spanish vocabulary and practical conversation elements. Join us on a magical adventure!     Skyhawks baseball takes the rich history of the game from Cooperstown to your town. Our professional curriculum teaches the fundamentals of fielding, catching, throwing, hitting and base running in a fun, positive environment by local Skyhawks staff. All athletes regardless of skill level will learn new baseball skills along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork and responsibility.     Track & Field Camp (Ages 6-12)

    Skyhawks Track & Field was developed to introduce young athletes to this sport rich in tradition and history. These programs combine technical development and fundamental techniques with safety and a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our exercises and drills will prepare athletes for a future in cross-country, track and field events, distance running, while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are all covered in this unique program. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end of the week at the Skyhawks track meet!
  • Eureka Engineering (Grades 3-8)

    Eureka Engineering introduces students to the core skills of robotics and STEM through engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. Student groups will work with Lego Mindstorm kits, which include both electrical and mechanical components. The small groups will be mentored by experienced and passionate instructors. Parents are welcome to watch their child's robotic creations come to life in exciting and competitive challenges including drag racing, fighting robots and more!
  • RC Wars (Ages 8-14)

    In RC Wars, teams of students will build their own Remote Control vehicles to race and battle against other teams. Students will need to design their vehicles to not only be faster and stronger than other teams' creations, but also better than purchased RC Cars and Drones! RC Wars will feature land and air races, obstacle courses and more as students learn mechanical and electrical building skills in an energetic and exciting environment. Optional Upcharge: Students can choose to bring their drone home for an additional $50.00 ($100.00 value).
  • My Little Horse Camp

    Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet a number of our different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn about how to groom the horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition, students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15 minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. PARENT/GUARDIAN: This 2-hour camp is designed for parent/guardian participation. Parent/Guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp. WEATHER: Camps are held rain or shine, as we have an indoor barn and arena.     DASH Sports Summer Lacrosse Camps provide participants a no-contact introductory experience to the game. Athletes will learn basic lacrosse fundamentals including stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting all in a fun, non-checking environment. This is a non-contact camp, helmets, gloves, and mouthguards are not required, but can be brought with and worn. Sticks and safety lacrosse balls are provided. Participants should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle and snack.

    DASH Sports Street Hockey Camps provide players a well-rounded hockey experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games.     Discover the essential universal skills and techniques every babysitter should have. This one-day certification course teaches participants to take care of themselves and others by exploring basic care of infants and children, basic first aid, emergency protocols, home safety, child behavior, developmental milestones, age-appropriate activities, professionalism, leadership and more. We encourage both young men and women to attend this life altering course. An Emergency Medical Technician and former member of Red Cross’ Emergency First Responder Team, Allison Curtis is a passionate instructor of both American Heart Association CPR and American Red Cross CPR and Babysitting Training. Bring a lunch and water bottle.

    Skyhawks Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled camp. All aspects of the game are taught through drills and exercises that focus on passing, setting, hitting and serving. This co-ed program is designed for the beginner to intermediate player and will incorporate essential life-lessons such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Our volleyball staff will assist each athlete in developing the fundamental skills of the game through game-based drills and daily scrimmages aimed at developing the whole player.
