    Exploring Photography (Grades 3-8)

    "Exploring Photography" is an engaging and hands-on 3-day summer camp designed for students in grades 3-8 who have an interest in discovering the art and science of photography. This dynamic camp aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of photography, foster creativity, teach technical skills, and teach phot editing.
  • 1 Day Horse Camp (Ages 6-15)

    DAY CAMP (Ages 6-15) TIME: PARENT Drop-off is at 9am and PARENT pickup is 3pm. Sorry we do not allow parents to stay for the day. WHAT TO EXPECT: Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for 40min-50min (no trails), practice how to steer, stop, turn, and walk on their own. They also might make horse treats, do a craft, and play games. And don't forget the time to meet and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! WHAT DO CAMPERS NEED TO BRING? Long pants, closed toe shoes, appropriate clothes for weather inside and outside of barn. No flip flops. Sunscreen/hat/bug spray Water bottle/drinks/snacks and a lunch Treats for the horses if you want Helmets are provided. WEATHER: Camps are held rain or shine,as we have an indoor barn and arena.   • Drumline Camp (6th-12th grade)

    No experience necessary to attend this drumline camp – students of all levels and abilities are invited to come have fun drumming! Drumline camp is open to all ISD 622 students who are entering grades 6-12. All equipment, instruments, sticks, mallets, and music will be provided. Whether you already have been part of a drumline or you don’t have experience at all, this camp is for you. Register for the beginning track if you have 1 year or less of percussion experience and register for the advanced track if you have 2+ years of percussion experience. In this camp we will give you all the information needed to play in an indoor drumline, from introduction to kinds of drumline instruments to technique to marching with the instruments to instruction in the drumline instrument(s) of your choice. Join us and have a great time learning about the wonderful world of indoor drumline! This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. *Students who participate in this camp will have the opportunity to continue their drumline involvement by joining Fusion Drumline in the fall. Fusion Drumline is ISD 622's school-year indoor drumline group, which is open to students in grades 7-12. More information can be found at fusiondrumline.com.
  • My Little Horse Camp (Ages 2-5)

    Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet a number of our different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn about how to groom the horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition, students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15 minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. PARENT/GUARDIAN: This 2-hour camp is designed for parent/guardian participation. Parent/Guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp. WEATHER: Camps are held rain or shine, as we have an indoor barn and arena.   • Intro to Game Design (Grades 3-8)

    If you like playing video games, you’ll love designing them! Trained instructors will teach students how to program their own video games using an engaging program called Kodu. They will create their own world, populate it with characters, and then play the games they create during class. Students will learn important programming skills while having tons of fun, with no prior experience needed!

    Jr. Engineering (Grades K-3)

    If learners like building and figuring out how things work, they will love this class. Join us as we explore, investigate, and solve problems while learning about simple machines' engineering building blocks. Students working in pairs will enjoy hands-on activities using LEGO Gears and unique LEG Technic engineering components that incorporate math, science, and creativity. They will then use what they learned to solve challenges. Learning projects my include3 min mechanical concept models, a moving dragon, scale, clown, crane car, fan, merry-go-round, and more. Students will be working in pairs.

    Extreme Robotics: Battlebots (Grades 3-7)

    This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO® building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO®). Working each day in teams, students will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.

    Chess N' Motion (Grades K-6)

    Challenge your mind and body this summer. We will learn & play chess to make our brains sweat and also play some physical games to make our bodies sweat. We will split our activities to keep both our heads and hearts active! Chess skills will cover the beginner to an intermediate player and physical games may include badminton, pickleball, tag games, and other indoor/outdoor games based on the ability level and mix of the group!

    Rocket Builder Design Camp (Grades 3-8)

    Learn to build and launch your own rockets from everyday common materials. Multiple design, building, and recovery techniques will be experimented with. Use 3D design software to design and 3D print some of the parts for your models. These rockets are cheap to make so it removes the anxiety of "doing it wrong"! Build it and see what happens within the rules of model rocketry. A rocket launch is part of the program. Launch equipment is provided. We may have time to use simulations to experiment with real rocket variables and try to find out what it takes to move an object beyond earth's gravity and possibly to other planets.
  • Dungeons & Dragons STEAM Camp (Grades 2-6)

    Explore the awesome world of Dungeons & Dragons! Learn about the game, create your own character, and embark on a short one-shot adventure. Participate in D&D-related STEAM activities, like creating your own D&D-inspired video game. Bring a USB drive on the last day. Students should have basic reading skills.
  • Intro to 3D Printing & CAD (Grades 3-6)

    This 3D printing camp takes students through the 3D printing process from start to finish. Students will design 3D objects using TinkerCAD and the 3D slicing program Cura to bring their creations to life. From industrial design and manufacturing to software and hardware engineering, the 3D printing industry is booming. This course is an excellent introduction to 3D printing and is ideal for students who like to draw, design, imagine, and see their creations come to life. Printing and material fees are included. Students will get to bring home two of their 3D creations. Students should have basic reading skills.
  • Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certification

    Discover the essential universal skills and techniques every babysitter should have. This one-day certification course teaches participants to take care of themselves and others by exploring basic care of infants and children, basic first aid, emergency protocols, home safety, child behavior, developmental milestones, age-appropriate activities, professionalism, leadership and more. We encourage both young men and women to attend this life altering course. An Emergency Medical Technician and former member of Red Cross’ Emergency First Responder Team, Allison Curtis is a passionate instructor of both American Heart Association CPR and American Red Cross CPR and Babysitting Training. Bring a lunch and water bottle.
