Explore the Ojibwe and Dakota cultures in this emersion experience designed especially for you: Venture to Hocokata Ti, in Shakopee where you will gain a greater understanding of the Mdewakanton Dakota people and their history through a guided tour of the exhibit called Mdewakanton: Dwellers of the Spirit Lake. Discuss the rich art and design traditions of the Ojibwe and Dakota, the two tribes that are indigenous to Minnesota. Enjoy a luncheon that includes frybread, a flat dough bread that became a staple of indigenous populations, as a way to use the rations provided by the government when their traditional staples of vegetables and beans were not available. Your experience begins at Gladstone (1945 Manton St, Maplewood) at 11:00 am and ends back at Gladstone about 4 pm.
